Ferrymead!
The children had an awesome day celebrating our 'Change is Good' unit.
The weather was stunning and it was a fantastic opportunity for the children to get a taste of what life was really like in the 1900's!

Grandparents Day
Wow what a fantastic day - despite the ever changing weather! It was great to see so many children bring along their grandparents and families to celebrate the children's learning this term. The grandparents helped Room 6 to make a 'thaumatrope' - an old fashioned children's toy popular in the 1800's. And then they stayed for a shared morning tea and our Folk dancing performance!

Christchurch Museum
This term the Junior School is looking at how 'Change is Good' with a focus on how NZ schooling has changed since the 1900's to kick start our learning this term we went to visit the museum. The children had a treasure hunt in the 1900's section where they were required to locate and discuss items from the past. You can see their ideas in our classroom display. Here are some shots from our time looking around the rest of the museum.

Community Cloth
Today we made our class Community Cloth that will be joined up with all the other children's at St Albans School. Our individual cloth depicts our families using circles for each family member. Keep an eye out for the finished quilt that will be displayed in our school hall.
Making Salsa!
Today we met with our buddy class Room 20 and made some yummy salsa using our very own tomatoes from the school vegetable garden. It was great to see everyone contribute to making it as well as tasting it too! Well done guys it was delicious!
