Folkdancing Celebration

Book Day 2013

In Room 6 many children love to bring their own books from home to read to the class! It is great to see such a variety of independent reading. If your child would like to bring a book to school - please check they are able to read it independently first.

Science Alive - Forces

Thank you to Science Alive who came to teach us about different forces! We learnt about: Pushing & Pulling, Twisting, Gravity, Air Resistance, Friction and Magnetism. The children had lots of fun exploring these - a big thank you to our parent helpers on the day!

Cross Country 2013

Wow what a great day! A huge congratulations to all of Room 6 for completing their first school cross country! I was so proud watching all of you complete the course - and a MASSIVE congratulations to Emily and Tane who came 2nd in their races! what a top effort!!

Let the Force Be With You!

This term we are looking at the science curriculum as part of our inquiry. Our forces ignition started off with the children and teachers pulling Heathers truck over a distance to see who could do it the fastest. The winning teams then participated in a class tug of war! What a great way to start the term!

Well Done to Room 6 who got a time of 12.3 seconds!

Big Day In 2013

Wow check out our awesome  Term 1 'Big Day In' we had a wheelie day with a best decorated bike/scooter competition. Congratulations to Jacob who came 3rd in the bike competition and Imogen who came 2nd in the scooter competition! Well done to everyone who made an effort to decorate their wheels - they looked fantastic.  We then went to the hall for a disco and finished off the day watching the original Wizard of Oz. Swimming Lessons 2013

Reading

During Reading this term the children are learning the key competency of 'Managing Self' Room 6 are learning to choose between 'can do' & 'must do' activities. They are learning to stay at the correct activity, to attempt to solve any problems before seeking help from the teacher, to ensure they are on task & to worry about themselves and their own behaviour. Our reading programme looks like this:

Must do's:
Read with the teacher
Complete our phonics sheet
Spelling

Can do's:
Reading games on the computer
Practice writing in our big book or on a white board
Read in the library corner
Read the little readers
Read the big blown up books or eye spies!

Tomato Tasting

Today in Room 6 we went and picked some of our school vegetables that the Eco-warriors have been busy growing. We picked some lovely tomatoes to inspire our days story writing. We brainstormed describing words to help make our writing more interesting to the reader - here are some of the words we came up with: Juicy, Red, Shiny, delicious, and Round. Feel free to come in and check out our writing.

Sunflower Art

This term in Room 6 we are using paint as a medium for our artwork.  Today we made sunflowers based on our beautiful school sunflowers located outside our classroom.  Check out our work in progress.
